fiji

So fiji is still recognized by nationals and still gets to keep their charter?? I heard since A&M Has little authority over them they have a huge advantage in rush over the other fraternities, can someone confirm this?

Correct- they are suspended from the TAMU IFC for three years

Wrong- Nationals is backing them, allowing them to keep their charter and operate for the three years they are not on campus.

They are still under the supervision from nationals and have to follow their rules, just like they would be from TAMU of IFC. But you're right it could have big advantages in rush.

This likely won’t help them with rush. yes they can pretty much just do what they want, but they won’t have access to the master rush list like every chapter has and won’t be able to have an official rush with the other chapters. Guys that would have gone them already will go them, but because everything will basically be word of mouth they will be hindered. Guys who decide to rush who don’t know a Fiji wont know they’re a thing. Plus they’re no longer Aggie Fijis, just Fijis that go to A&M, won’t be able to use the words Texas A&M or Aggie on shirts etc. (who knows how much that’s enforced anyways). If this is true, will be interesting to see it play out. They may do well for the first year initially because “rule breakers” persona, but will likely fade away as older people graduate and become a shell of what they were. Just looking at it from a different perspective.

So does this mean that technically if you know someone that’s in Fiji now, by next fall you could rush them but not through IFC?

Why does it matter if they are affiliated with A&M. They will still have sorority relationships and they already took guys they knew. I don’t see much changing for them
