can someone please give me an honest answer?

I’m transferring to TAMU fall 2020. tbh I’m an older student considering rush and I know I’m not gonna get a bid from the top houses so I wanna know more about ADPi, AOII, AEPhi, Kappa Alpha Theta, and maybe Gamma Phi Beta. I know this site is BS most of the time but I know there’s some honest people.

Aephi does their own form of recruitment
Your most realistic and safe choices are gonna be ADPi, AOPI and Gamma Phi. I didn’t go Gamma Phi, but it’s honeslty a really great chapter that gets overlooked a lot! Go in with an open mind and know that every sorority is able to offer you the same things!

Why does AEPhi do their own recruitment if they’re Panhellenic? Also when I say I’m an older student like, I’m 24 rn and I’ll be 26 when I get to A&M maybe 25 if I can get there a semester early. Like I’m not sure even the most resonable houses would have me but I’m gonna try lmao.

Most of the girls will be 17-18, that’s a little weird

phi does their own recruitment because I think most of their girls are from the same religion so they know who they want before recruitment happens. They are in contact with their girls before then which they are allowed to do. And it’s a small chapter sorority nationally so a lot of aephi chapters do that

I really don’t know if rushing would be right for you. You’ll spend a lot of time with the girls in your pledge class and most of them will be close to ten years younger than you. I think most sororities have age limits so that might be something to check into

I don’t see the problem. I’m close friends with a few 18-20 year olds right now and they don’t see an issue with that. I’m pretty sure the rules to be able to join a sorority include non-discrimination against age and class. Just if your gpa doesn’t meet requirements. So I think I’m fine. I’ll be a junior anyways when I get to A&M so it’s not like I’ll be there for 4 years. Just 4 semesters.

If you wanna learn more about the houses then look at their websites/social media/ or try getting in touch with a current member. You can always email their recruitment chair for info on rush and how your age would affect that or if you're eligible. Not to be discouraging, but there are relatively no members older than like 22 in most (or all of A&M's chapters). Usually most new members are freshman or sophomores around 18 or 19, so already coming in as that much of an older student may put you at a significant disadvantage

I mean sure I’ll be in my later 20s but as long as I’m chill and I get along with the girls what does it matter? I don’t even look like I’m almost 25. I still look like I’m 21 lol. Everyone is at a different place in their lives. I have a little bit more growing and learning to do and I’m not done with college yet so I’m going to enjoy it. If that means joining a sorority and learning to be part of a sisterhood and true friendship I’m okay with that. I think as long as my future sisters accept me as I am, then there is a place in a sorority at TAMU that I can call home. There’s nothing wrong with being 26 and having fun with other college women who are looking for the same thing as you are.

You still have a good chance at getting a bid from a better house! Age doesn’t matter too much just go in super open minded and be yourself!

Thank you! I still insecure about my age but I’ll go in as open minded as possible!
