suicide or pref both houses?

From what I understand, correct me if I’m wrong, It doesn’t give you a higher chance of getting in your first choice. It gives you a chance of getting a bid, period. Let’s say you want to suicide Kappa. If you’re not on their first list, you will be cut. If you have Kappa and AXO, and you Pref Kappa first, But you’re not on their list, you would match with AXO. So if you suicide, you risk getting nothing.

When we say lists, does that mean list 1,2,3 no rnakingsbin the list or an actual list of girl’s names ranked from say #1-#120 with 120 being least favorite girl?

You have to preference ALL your options. You can pref a max of three on the last day. If you only pref 2/3, it’d still be considered a suicide and puts you at risk of being cut.
You have to rank all the ones you have on the last day to ensure you get any. Most won’t have 3, 2 is more common. If you only have 1, that’ll be the one you’ll have unless you choose to drop.

Preffing 2 houses instead of suiciding one won't make it any more likely you'll get your house you preffed #1 at all. I don't know who told you that info but it is so dead wrong.
Either way, you will end up on the same place on the list of your 1st choice. If you suicided and you were below the cut line, you will be cut entirely. If you had preffed all your houses however, you would be able to be in the houses that you ranked lower.
Seriously, there are no advantages to suiciding.

If you have a house on pref list that sucks, why would you consider it.
Why do they want you to 'maximize your options'? So they can push decent girls to sorry houses.
