recruitment questions

by: Pnm

Hi I'm curious, what were some of the weirdest/ most surprising/ awk/ or common questions you got asked during recruitment?? What are some tips for pnms going thru to be prepared for these qs? Like what should we be prepared to answer (other than the basics like hometown, major, etc)

Tell them this: My dad drives a school bus for a living, that's our only vehicle in the family (he let's me borrow) it and actually we live in it.

I had a girl ask me about my “relationship with g-d” which I hated. Trying to find out if I’m religious enough for their house

You hate it when people ask you questions? That's kind of strange. I imagine you had a hard time with rush.

But you do understand that's the point of rush, right? To join a sorority?

If sororities are stupid, why even go through rush?

There are certain touchy topics that aren't supposed to be asked but obviously some houses will. These include -wealth, parent occupations, religiousness, etc

Bring up what you want them to know. If you don't feel comfortable about something or think its been over talked, you make sure to transition. It's okay to say that you have other interests other than .... or that you aren't that religious, or that's personal to you, but you hold A&Ms values.

Try to move the convo without telling someone you won't answer them. They may not realize they crossed a line.

Or you could just be genuine and answer them.

You can be genuine but when you aren’t religious and that’s all they ask, it get uncomfortable.

No one is saying to lie. I had a friend asked if she had a sibling after they’d passed away. Hard topics come up and you don’t have to share things like that.

Obviously, be genuine but I’m trying to give actual advice here. I

If you're being genuine, then it shouldn't be uncomfortable. Unless you're genuinely uncomfortable, I guess. Or are we missing something?

I get that you're TRYING to give advice. It's just that your skills are simply lacking with regards to giving GOOD advice. :)
