Certain houses will drop you if don’t have a rec, but most don’t really require it.

There is at least one chapter here who’s national offices require every new member to have a rec on file.

Grades and recs are the easiest thing to cut for, so why give any house the opportunity to cut you before they get to know you? Having a rec is almost always guaranteeing you a second invitation to that chapter assuming grades and reputation are strong.

If you know girls in that one chapter and they’re from your hometown, ask them who wrote their recs. Maybe there is someone you know that you just aren’t aware of yet. Along the same lines, ask the women who wrote your other recs if they know an alumna of that sorority that they wouldn’t mind introducing you to. Sorority women know sorority women!
