Exactly what #1 said. The university is looking for any reason to kill fraternities. Apparently, sororities are a "tradition" and the corps and Christian SGA/MSC types want to date them so they don't get bothered, but fraternities have almost no alumns in influence at all in the higher workings of the university. Not enough donors, not enough history, not enough people were in fraternities (many more were in corps). Until that changes, fraternities get no protection.
Sig Ep was the oldest and they weren't even the most party fraternity, but they got yanked. Basically every top/middle fraternity does some kind of "new member" program that could be considered hazing under strict guidelines, meaning any of them could go.
