Which frats/sororities generally have the best academics/hardest majors?

Fiji, Beta, KA

Theta, XO, Pi Phi, Tridelt, Kappa

For girls though, I'd say only Theta has hard majors AND good grades. Most of the girls in the sororities in the top 1/3 of the grade reports are in easy majors like Comms, English, Kinesiology, etc. I feel like I see more Zeta and DG in the engineering area.

Top 5 sororities for grades have consistently been Theta, Chi O, Pi Phi, DDD, Kappa

Zeta is always bottom 25% chapters

This is true but I feel like it's not 100% comparable. All the sororities with the best GPAs are also full of girls in super easy majors where having a 4.0 basically means showing up to class

Not true. I know many engineering, business, biomedical majors, nursing, architecture majors in Kappa, DDD, Theta, Chi O.

There's like 200+ girls in every sorority. Obviously every single one has some members in business or engineering or biomedical or whatever. But all those sororities with super high GPAs have ALOT more girls in easy majors proportion-wise than the other sororities.

Also I don't think most people would consider nursing or architecture super hard degrees

Those sororities recruit girls with higher gpas and fewer Blinn Team (except TriDelt they have a lot of Blinn). Pi phi Kappa Theta Chi O take few Blinn Team.

Zeta hasn’t been in the bottom for GPAs for awhile now, so that’s incorrect. And architecture is EXTREMELY difficult. They’re always pulling all nighters and their work requires a high degree of detail. Nursing is also more difficult than Comm or Kinesiology though.

Someone's touchy. Look, we're all Greek - we all drink and party. If you don't think people in Business Honors and PPA don't drink heavily, you haven't met enough people. Let's be clear, my roommate is a visualization major, which is completely different from CoSci. A&M has the 3rd best animation program of any public university and it requires a portfolio to join. Saying someone in that program "isn't bright" just shows your own ignorance. It definitely belongs up there in the prestige of "engineering, business, biomed, nursing."

To say that any sorority has harder majors than another is beyond stupid. No sorority recruits certain majors. That's just not a thing at all. Every sorority has girls in every major. To even claim that some sororities have more girls in hard majors is stupid because there is NO WAY you have sat down and looked at the majors of ever girl in every sorority and are able to make that claim. You're simply pulling things out of your ass. So listen, please do everyone a favor and shut up. Stop making excuses for why your sorority is in the bottom on grade reports.

Not to kick you off your high horse or anything but Panhellenic and IFC both keep track of each chapters member distribution by major/college sooo

Also it's a pretty false statement to say certain chapters don't have bigger representation in certain majors. It's a known fact that KA, Fiji, and Sig Ep are almost entirely made up of engineers and business students for instance. Minus the outliers that are typically in some GPA boosting major so they can get into law/medical school. The same applies to sororities, though it's a little more spread out because there's more members and girls tend to be open to pursuing less "prestigious" degrees. But certain sororities definitely have more girls in certain colleges

these stats are official as of spring 2017

The top houses are
#1 Chi Omega- 3.592
#2 Kappa Alpha Theta- 3.531
#3 Pi Beta Phi- 3.506

The bottom houses are
#12 Kappa Delta- 3.343
#13 Alpha Delta Pi- 3.184
#14 Alpha Omicron Pi- 3.124

Theres a trend here. top houses have top grades and bottom houses have bad academics. Im sure some of it can be blamed on more girls in a harder major but also on quality of member.

Except that not a single of the top 3 houses by GPA are considered top tier...

True but every house with a bad GPA is considered "do not pref" tier.

The only problem is chio is the only sorority on campus that does not initiate their members until basically second semester. As a result they are the only sorority that does not have to list their new members gpa for their first semester. This drastically boosts their gpa. As most new members are freshman or sophomores who transferred from blinn and are therefore likely to not do as well their first semester in real college classes. Most people will tell you that their worst gpa ever was their first semesters gpa. That's why I don't put much into chios gpa. If every sorority did it this way I'm sure the ranks would be closer and chio would maybe even be beat out.

the problem with that logic is in the spring the #s include all the girls who got inititated and it's still significantly higher than the other sororities. chi o doesn't always have the highest gpa but the whole thing with initiating in the spring making them #1 would be reflected in a change in place for grades in the spring

Office of Fraternity/Sorority life used to public majors but hasn't since Fall 2015. Looking at grade summaries Spring 2014-Fall 2015 though, we see that the top 3 popular majors for Greeks are Business Administration (general underclassmen), Kinesiology, and Communications. There's a pretty big gap between Business/Comm and the rest. Then followed by a mix of Biomedical Sciences, Finance/Accounting/Marketing (upperclass), Psychology, and General Engineering.

Greek Underclassmen Business: 50% guys 50% girls
Marketing: 85% girls, 15% guys
Supply Chain: 40% girls, 60% guys
Accounting: 50% girls, 50% guys
Finance: 20% girls, 80% guys

Communication: 90% girls, 10% guys

Biomedical Sciences: 65% girls, 35% guys

Health (Kinesiology): 50% girls, 50% guys

General Engineering: 25% girls, 75% guys
Upper Engineering: 15% girls, 85% guys

Psychology: 85% girls, 15% guys

Out of the 4 "top GPA houses" (XO, Theta, Pi Phi, DDD) I see mostly only Theta represented in the harder upper level majors. XO is always extremely competitive about grades and will shame you for poor performance, plus they have a pretty kickass test bank and study group with men's orgs and Christian groups. DDD used to be similar, but took too many Blinn Team. Their real GPAs were hidden for awhile but now that they've transferred into A&M, they're dragging DDD down slowly. Pi Phi's been more like Theta - nice but nerdy girls.
