by: ???I thought Aggies were known to be the nicest campus in TX. You wouldn't know that by reading these comments. Apparently if you aren't in the top or mid tier sorority then you are worthless. Who decides this and why would anyone want to be a part of such hate and name calling. It's like junior high in college.

It's because in college some people still haven't discovered their self worth which is sadly still wrapped up in their parents wealth and where they came from while others have become confident in who they actually are themselves. Don't worry, age takes care of this to a great extent as people must stand on their own.
The nastiness comes from fear of losing prestige so they lash out against other groups in order to prop up their own stature. You will see which groups fight so hard to be "top".

A&M's "top tier" is not old money like it is at a lot of other schools. They lack the sound confidence that comes from being a true elite and are afraid of losing whatever tiny bit of prestige/social class they cling to. It's the age old new money vs old money feud, and A&M is very new money. (If monied at all)
Most the guys and girls in top fraternities/sororities here are upper middle class at best (yes, Fiji, Kappa, Tri Delt are all mostly middle class no matter what image they try to portray) and just grew up in super entitled WASPy middle class neighborhoods: the kind of places where everyone is always comparing themselves to each other and trying to one-up their neighbor out of insecurity. This mentality follows them into college and probably only gets worse when they realize they're not special and "daddy" is just a regular old dude with a decent job like everyone else. These are the people that get so hateful about "tier" and "popularity." How else do you convince yourself you're better than others?
Like the person above said, some will grow out of it. I personally think it's a much bigger problem with sororities than fraternities here

Totally agree. All this internal bashing gives Aggie Greek life a bad reputation! Who cares who is the worst, the best, etc. I get this same talk even from Aggie parents. Get over yourselves Greeks. Life is too short to compete internally for no reason and not get along.

Go work on your philanthropy or schoolwork and enjoy whichever one you're in and for goodness sakes stop putting everyone else down. Classless Greek life!
