What is up with SigEp???

SigEp is unique in that our chapter house and all fraternity events are alcohol and substance free by choice. The brothers feel that the brotherhood we are constantly striving to build does not require alcohol to exist. Our chapter house is a Residential Learning Community--RLC--which means that we’re one of the best SigEp chapters in the country when it comes to faculty engagement, alumni involvement, and more. Chapter members with prestigious internships want to live in places where they are surrounded by fellow high performers.

SigEp is committed to being a different kind of fraternity – one that recognizes the importance of the out-of-classroom experience and is committed to making that experience the safest and most empowering part of a college male’s life. SigEp is unique in that our chapter house and all fraternity events are alcohol and substance free by choice. The brothers feel that the brotherhood we are constantly striving to build does not require alcohol to exist. The chapter also works to encourage other LSU fraternities toward eradicating dangerous and illegal alcohol consumption.

SigEp stands out as a forward-thinking fraternity in all issues, including gender. SigEp has traditionally treated gender as binary, when we live in a world with increasing awareness that gender is not always binary. SigEp’s membership is currently restricted those persons who identify as male, but there is limited space in Greek communities across the country for non-binary individuals to engage.
SigEp is leading the way towards the future of Greek organizations in the United States as gender inclusive organizations. SigEp is convening a task force to explore removing any screening of gender from its membership criteria and this would also expand SigEp’s recruitment pool.

If you want to join greek life as a male, you join a fraternity, if you want to join Greek life as a female, you join a sorority. What are you thinking trying to put boys and girls in the same pledge class under the same roof😂 I could not imagine getting to college to join a frat and they got chicks lined up with us at roll call💀

Traditional ranking are toxic. SigEp tends to attract the kind of guy who wants more than a drinking club out of his fraternity. Students go to college to develop personally and professionally. Some other fraternities have facilities that house brothers in environments that harm rather than help those goals by forcing brothers to go elsewhere to study during parties. But SigEp's substance-free facility provides a very conducive environment for doing what students go to college to do.
