should you be in a sorority?
by: PNMs
If you're on this site because you want to know what recruitment has in store for you, you're probably taken aback with the sheer meanness you've seen on this site. You may be wondering if this life is for you. Of course you can talk to your high school friends, your mom's sorority friends, or research on the internet to find out what it's like. I didn't research. I just went into it blindly.
After I accepted a bid and then dropped out during new member period, I found an OU Daily article written by a sorority girl about life in this same house house. It really opened my eyes.
You can find it here: You can read it here: www.oudaily.com/opinion/column-are-you-sure-joinin g-the-greek-system-is-right/article_207f9f8b-b98c- 520b-b1cc-1d80e036ba02.html NOTE: you need to remove any spaces if they show up when this gets posted.
As for me, I didn't join another sorority because of the type of things described in this article. Now I realize that not every house is like that. Maybe only that one house. I have good friends that are very happy in there houses and I almost wish I were in a house too. Oh well, it's a little too late.
But all in all, I'm glad my eyes were opened to what some houses will do to get new members. This house will probably flood this site with a lot of mean comments, blaming this house or that house for posting this article.
But the truth is it was posted by someone not in any house at OU.

That's my answer to the discussion post question. Normally I would advise girls join the house that wants them and give it a chance but it appears some GPB has become obsessed with better houses and has no life outside greekrank. I'd hate that to happen to someone else.

I guess all the things the author said were true a couple of years ago are still true. OU had such a compatible greek system before Alpha Phi came. It's not enough to sing and dance well. You have to have good character too. Oh well, so much for trying to help Alpha Phi fit in at OU.

I just read 2 pages of Alpha Phi trying to persuade anyone who will listen that their problems are Gamma Phi's fault. Sheeeeeeeeesh! I hadn't been aware of this until now but I agree. Panhellenic togetherness has not worked for the Alphas. They have completely ruined their house at OU..

I just read through a few of the comments the Alpha Phi has posted and they're slipping from just hateful to really incomprehensible. She has a lot of inside jokes (eg the "fabulous darling" post above) and other posts that make no sense at all. She's really losing it. Seems like it would be easier to apologize. She's not going to win (and by "win" I mean convince people that Alpha Phi is a decent, classy house that the top PNMs are interested in). She'd definitely be better off apologizing and spending her time studying for finals.

I wrote post #26 to encourage Alpha Phi to get back on the subject and stop obsessing about the fact that this article was posted. I would really like to hear what they have to say. Instead, you got on and posted this tired accusation and 3 hateful comments about GPB. It seems obvious you wanted to bury this again. Looks suspicious to me. Lots of people would like to hear why you think Alpha Phi is so much better than others think they are.
