resume
by: RebWhat would be considered an average resume? Like how many clubs, volunteer places, awards etc is considered average?

I was told to use the sample from the Houston panhellenic website (I'm from Tennesee) its supposed to be one of the best social resume models to use. I was also told to be involved in at least 10 different clubs/athletics/activities in high school and have at least 100 hours of volunteer work in the last four years. If it's above and beyond that then I guess I am average. Also show all leadership positions.

Everyone's definition of average will be different. I was an average pnm. I had the 3.0 and was in national honors society. I danced in high school and joined a club. I also had about 25 service hours. My connections and personality were what got me a bid.
An above average pnm would have the 3.0 with AP and honors classes. She would have played a sport or danced or cheered. She would have also been a member of multiple clubs or been president of one club. In my opinion, holding an office in one club is better than being a member of three different clubs. Being an officer shows dedication and passion. This pnm would have lots of service hours. I would say at least 50. She would also have some sort of job experience. It could be a summer job or nannying. We want diverse and well rounded pnms but we also want to see dedication.

If you have to ask, you're probably average. That being said, an above average PNM would be not just involved but in leadership positions of a variety of clubs, athletics/cheer/dance, do volunteer work, and have interests outside of school such as a lot of church activities, pageants, art/music/theater, modeling, horseback riding, literally anything. Just something that sets them apart. They would also have above a 3.5 and at least a 26/27 ACT. An average PNM would probably have between a 3.0-3.5, a 22-26 ACT, be involved in some clubs and such, and maybe went on a mission trip. It's the lack of depth in that resume that makes it average. Hundreds of girls kinda had good grades, good test scores, and kinda did things in high school without really committing. The ones that really stand out did a lot but did it well.

I've seen one page resumes and I've seen six page resumes. The depth in your resume is what the alumni are looking for. I'm not saying that everyone needs a six page resume, but the average would be around two pages. It will have more two different activities, at least one leadership position, 100 hours of community service (25 hours a year for four years is minimum), awards, and jobs.
