honest rankings

by: mid tier girl

If you want to be honest about rankings, you have to admit a few things first. 1. Most girls (not all) want certain sororities going in to rush. 2. There are sororities we would die for bids to, sororities we would be happy to receive bids to, sororities we will settle for, and sororities we haven't really considered.

I went through rush last year and landed in a mid tier sorority. I was happy to receive a bid to this house and had a blast my freshman year. But to be honest, there is a hierarchy. Known to all, admitted to by most, and lied about by a few.

Tip top: DDD and XO Both royalty at Ole Miss. DDD are prettier, XO are smarter.

Top: KD and DG Both top tier. KD girls are prettier, DG girls are more competitive

Middle: Phi Mu and Kappa Both very respectable and everybody is happy on bid day. Phi Mu girls are a little nicer and Kappa girls are fun to hang out with.

Upper bottom: Pi Phi Girls are disappointed to get Pi Phi, but are generally happy that they didn't have to settle for the bottom.

Bottom: AOPi and Theta You have heard that there is no such thing as a bad sorority at Ole Miss. This is true. Both of these sororities have great girls and even though the girls who receive bids to them are upset on bid day, they quickly become obsessed with their sisters.

New: ADPi. Brand new. Huge mix of girls. Still wading through. Should be better defined after this years pledge class.

I have yet to meet one girl on my floor that doesn't want either ddd or xo. More than a few add in KD and DG. Not one person has mentioned aopi, theta, or ADPi.

Because you are quite possibly on a floor in Martin that has a group of girls who are all from the Jackson metro area and got a block of rooms with many of their high school friends. Those are the sororities those pnms have been acquainted with their entire lives. It takes a unique pnm from that area to go into recruitment actually wanting a sorority like AOP, ADP, PiPhi, & Theta that have more diversity. It's just the way things are.

How can girls from Jackson get blocks of rooms? Don't we all sign up for our rooms the same way? In the order the university receives our deposits?

Girls from Jackson usually know they're going to go to ole miss and follow their friends and family here. Martin is notorious for having a rumor that it's one if the better dorms for recruitment and getting a good house. Therefore, they put in deposits early and get the rooms they want with the friends they already know and want. It happens, the original commentor was not making that up. If you could go to college and live with all your friends, wouldn't you?

Everybody will find their homes. Tr

Relax and get to know each house before you pass judgement.
