Minimum GPA rule
by: GPAHow would someone with a 2.6 high school GPA be allowed to register for recruitment? Is the 2.7 rule not strictly enforced? Or do they take into consideration what high school they went to, whether it’s private or public?

NPC does not endorse a minimum GPA requirement to participate in sorority recruitment. In fact, NPC strictly says there should be NO minimum GPA requirement for PNMs. Ole Miss has BOLDLY chosen to ignore that NPC mandate. And because the Greek system at Ole Miss is among the largest in the nation, NPC has turned a blind eye to the NPC standards on this and allowed it to continue without pushback. (Athletes are allowed to participate in all team activities with much lower than a 2.7 GPA...but somehow sorority women are not afforded the same privilege of campus involvement... Hmmm. Think on that for a minute and see if it makes you angry. It should.)
As to the "why" on letting a PNM with a sub 2.7 GPA participate... it could be that Ole Miss uses what is referred to as a "core GPA" as the official GPA of record & the PNM in question has "core" that is 2.7 or higher. Many universities do use this "core GPA" as it has been proven to be a more accurate indicator of academic success on the collegiate level. Core includes only: math, history, science and English.
Or it could just be that Ole Miss is very money-hungry, and a large donor threw a hissy fit.

University and sorority are not the same. A chapter of sorority girls voting on new members does not give a rat's a-- about the kid of a university donor. Every sorority sees every pnm's grades and a chapter taking a low GPA girl would mean a hit to their rep. Unless you're Kiffin level nobody cares.
