Pledge classes are too big. No way sororities are selective.

Actually they are but a lot of amazing wonderful girls come to Ole Miss. Especially from OOS and when the only thing that makes your house exclusive and selective is that you knew each other in high school or your moms went to college together that isn’t really exclusivity. It’s proximity.

Ole Miss is filled with smart, funny, nice, wonderful women with strong resumes and bright futures. It is no longer just a MRS degree Ring by Spring campus for in state girls to meet their husbands. Some alums get it and others are threatened.

These houses are on their way to have 1000 member in a few years. Part of the desire to be in a house is exclusitivity. When that is gone, what’s even the point?

As a top house alum I would hope it would be values of friendship and fellowship not being exclusive as a value. Every young qualified women should be able to find a home so if we need more houses built in a different location we should support this as we need to have Pan love. These were the values of my sorority we cut petty women. But such large pledge classes are hard we need a real solution.

"Part of the desire to be in a house is exclusitivity (sic). When that is gone, what’s even the point?"
THE POINT OF JOINING A SORORITY is not to belong to an exclusive club. The point is to be a part of a group of women who lift each other up. The point is to join together to work towards making the community a better place through a chapter's philanthropy. If you are joining a sorority simply to wear your letters as a status symbol, you are missing the point.

Take back the Zeta House - land there for a new one, build a new honors college and take back the original ADPi house and there is a 2nd - so we can get two houses on Sorority Drive without having to go somewhere else.

With 2300 girls rushing we are about the same size as Bama rush and they have 18 soroities… we had more than Auburn and they also have 18 sororities. Ole Miss has 11.

I love that every house did well, and there are SO MANY great girls going through, so everyone wins. I also love that it is about opportunities for ALL girls and ALL houses. Ole Miss has always been known as a school that does not welcome new sororities, so nationals hesitate to bring a chapter there. Look how they treated Theta and Zeta. Remember how they treated Alpha Phi and Alpha Chi? They weren't as harsh on Alpha Chi as they were on Alpha Phi. Thankfully, it is getting better because SO MANY OOS girls are now at Ole Miss, just like at Bama and Arkansas, so that helps, and no one cares about things from 150 years ago. The OP before said that AOII had national support to grow, build a new house, create new recruiting tools, etc, and they did. It has worked, and it has paid off in dividends. I also think that Ole Miss should add at least 2 more sororities to even the heavy numbers coming through. Just a thought. Pan love! What a great day for ALL the girls and ALL the houses!

Well, Zeta and Theta will not come back. That leaves just a few with Alpha Gam, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, and a few others.

Why wouldn’t zeta come back?
