adpi and alpha phi

by: Ole Miss Observer

So how does everybody think they'll do?

I was kind of surprised that they'd bring back ADPi since they didn't close that long ago, relatively speaking.

I think APhi could do well here since they'd be starting with a clean slate and they've gotten off to a good start at schools like Bama and Kentucky. (They're also recolonizing at LSU.)

Sounds like there is good support for ADPi returning which is really great to see. This is a very strong southeastern sorority and at the national level, too. We didn't get much support in the earlier years at UM so appreciate the dean's positive comments and much good publicity on hottytoddy.com

A-phi is the top sorority in the Northern states and California. They are new to UK, and have quickly rose to middle tier. They have a very strong alumnae base and when they come into a campus, they quickly rise. They have done extremely well at UK and Bama and because of the alumni support and leadership, they get in there and spend a lot of time working on rush and other things to get the chapter on the right track. They will do well where ever they go.

This. Aphi does great in the north and the only reason it wouldnt be able to do well in the south is because of the already existing heirarchy.

Aphi has an amazing house at Mizzou. I think it will be super successful at Ole Miss.

Alpha Phi at FSU has had FSU homecoming maids the last two years, and the Student Body President. Grand sorority; fabulous ladies; definitely top tier!

Would bet on Alpha Phi becoming a top tier, highly sought after sorority at Ole Miss! Especially because they want more than just girls from the South. Quality out of state girls to make it the best. The new house is going to be the nicest on campus!

Alpha Pi has the money to do what they want. They are opening up chapters all over the place. They go off looks so they will be fine. ADP will do fine and end up being a good sorority.

Alpha Phi is starting up at UGA next fall, so they'll be another SEC chapter. It will be interesting to see how they do. It will be the 19th sorority on campus.

We will run that campus just like we're going to do at Ole Miss! Prettier and better than all the rest of you!

Old alum here. I sat in on the extension presentations when Ole Miss opened for extension. Let me explain why Alpha Phi is at Ole Miss. Four chapters put on presentations: Alpha Phi, ADPi, Alpha Gamma Delta and DZ. Each chapter at the time sent a select group of representatives from their chapter. Those groups would then go recommend to their chapters who they should vote for Panhellenic to select. I think we went in thinking ADPi and DZ should be the two chapters. After all, both were previously at Ole Miss and strong in the South. Boy, we were wrong.

Alpha Phi had the best presentation out of all four. I'm dead serious when I tell you that myself and the other women of my chapter may have uttered the words, "I wish I could be an Alpha Phi." They were prepared and clearly had done their research on Ole Miss. Out of any presentation I felt they were going to be the most successful group. You could tell they knew how to find like minded women and we're going to be competitive with other chapters on campus. I couldn't say that about other groups presenting. We often forget that Ole Miss has a huge out of state draw. They might not be huge in the South, but they are extremely well known up North and out West. We have lots of students come from both those areas of the country. Their Southern chapters have made quota and grown rapidly after extension as well.

I think you meant ZTA was here. I've never heard of DZ being at Ole Miss. ZTA used to be in the house between DG and Kappa.

As for ADPi, they were the second best presentation. I think what stood out to us was that they clearly learned from their mistakes from closing back in '95. They had a clear plan of action for what they would do differently. Just like Alpha Phi, they understood the Ole Miss atmosphere and what they needed to do to succeed. They also were the one group that had a large number of legacies already coming through rush at Ole Miss. A group that had that many legacies would certainly alleviate the growing pains that each chapter was facing maybe a little quicker than the others presenting. Lastly, they are strong nationally with a wonderful reputation in the South. I'd say those last few points were why they were chosen to go first over Alpha Phi in colonizing.

DZ actually was at Ole Miss back in the 1920s. So long ago that DZ couldn't tell us why they left and what they'd do differently
