too anxious
by: Scared Sister
Since Bid Day, I've had nothing but fun with my new sisters and learning all about my new home's traditions and events. I think I made a great decision to go Greek.
But I also have General Anxiety Disorder. I've been lucky so far, but I'm terrified that one day I'll have a panic attack at chapter or another event, and be labeled as "the crazy sister". I don't want to end up as someone's pity choice little or not be able to make any friends because no one understands the condition. I just don't know how to talk to anyone about it.

I have GAD with Panic Disorder. I have had panic attacks infront of friends in my sorority and if anything it only opened up the door for us to talk about the very sensitive struggles we all have. A few did not understand because they don't know anyone else with it, but it gave us a chance for me to explain it and open their eyes to mental health issues. They were nothing but loving and supportive. I genuinely wish you the best in sharing this with people because it is terrifying to be so vulnerable. But your true friends will have your back through thick and thin, and you'll probably realize you have friends dealing with similar issues in the process.

To all those suffering from anxiety disorders, you are probably magnesium deficient. I urge you to read "Magnesium-Deficient Anxiety" by Dr. Carolyn Dean. Doctors are too happy to hand out anti-anxiety meds when a simple adjustment in your intake of Magnesium is all that you need! Good luck!!
