So what's the consensus - did it do what it was supposed to do?

If the goal was parity then yes it did.

Extremely painful for so many, but I think it is a push in the right direction toward parity in the Houses. Now everyone needs to work on their own Houses, keep retention high, and work on making the Greek System as a whole better so some time in the future, this won't be needed. And sadly, it was/is needed.

Totally agree. Really key for the newer houses to retain new members and especially to build a cohesive sisterhood. That can be hard when you're new (or new-ish), made even more challenging with such large pledge classes. Good luck to every house!

Y’all I thought it was a hot mess going through! I was livid at how hard we had to cut. But when I saw all our pledge classes, I changed my mind.

There’s not a bad class in the bunch.

The traditional houses got exactly who they wanted. The middle chapters got unbelievably strong girls. The newer houses got both quantity and quality.

All the girls I know in all the houses are obsessed with their classes in a way I’ve never seen before. Every house on campus is proud of their girls! Of course I’m rather partial to our girls! But as a PNM I’d be proud of whatever chapter I ended up with.

Our problem as a system will be retention of girls who might have thought they “deserved” a chapter. This will be hardest this year. But I think with expectations managed in the next years, all the houses will be great and PNMs will have an open mind.

I honestly do think we’ll see a shift to a Bama type school where there are strong “old row” chapters (the best MS girls) and then strong “new row” chapters (the best OOS girls) which is a good thing.

I hope this is a step towards a more Bama-like Greek atmosphere. Still very competitive, but also with a better attitude. My older sister is there now and says hardly anyone ever declines a bid and their chapters are all relatively the same size. Something to work towards I guess

This was a mess absolutely unfair to limit the established houses. Everyone should have the same quota. If this tried at Bama to ensure fairness for each house then sororities will all lose

Bama doesn't need it because like someone already said, they're houses are all pretty much the same size.

Bama and LSU are basically run the same. My younger sister is at LSU and quota is even with a few exceptions.
