after we leave the house
by: CuriousAfter PNMs leave the house, what is it like? Do the girls right away start working on who's coming back? Or is that not decided til the end of the night?

As an alum who is on a house corps, I think it is only fair to tell you what happens. The girls go back to their 'main' room (wherever it is in the house, usually downstairs because it has to be big enough to house the chapter) which is full of iphones, laptops, fuzzy blankets, breath mints, comfortable shoes, etc and they get a sheet with names from that round or- if the sorority is using a computer application, they get a website with names from that party and faces and they circle (yes) or slash (no) through names. Those sheets of paper or electronic votes go to the backroom for comparison to the other parties. Girls with a certain % of yes or higher are invited back the next night. There are variations to this across houses but all houses have to get votes.

All pnms should also know that there isn't a lot of catty conversation about pnms. Just like you are tired and probably feel like you need a break between rounds, and don't want to say too many bad things about the house that you were just at and the girls in, so too do the sisters in the house just want to quickly vote then chill then put on the heels and do the next party. Truly, the sisters in the house just want to chill, catch up with their sisters, do some homework or studying for GREs or LSATs, etc. They are not running around saying 'vote for this girl, don't vote for this girl'. In many houses, you can't vote on a girl unless you met her-- this prevents group voting on someone that you have never met. (For example, the back room where votes are really counted would really question how one girl could have 6 total votes on her and another girl in the same round could have 20 total votes on her; they both should have met roughly the same number of total votes.) There is also a lot of prep for the next round-- who will greet who at the door, who will bump that person, who else should meet that girl, etc. There is also a lot of double checking. For example, every year there are at least two girls by the same name who rush, and each house has to be very sure that they are voting on the correct person. There are also missed parties too for example if a pnm is an athlete and has an event, so you have to make sure that those pnms get a fair chance even if they miss a party.

Not how my chapter does it at all. Every chapter has different procedures.
