rush

Honestly stop worrying about it. Rush at IU is hard and there's no way to tell you how it's gonna go for you. Maybe it will be easy, maybe you won't get a bid anywhere. My advice if you are an incoming freshman: you can't really change anything about the superficial aspects but keep your grades up, stay away from frat parties, make connections w/sorority girls in classes and clubs, and STAY OFF THIS WEBSITE. I have friends in almost every house here and they are all great in their own way. It's cheesy, but the worst thing you can do is go into rush with preconceived ideas about tiers and houses. You'll end up where you belong!

Everything said above is true! Biggest advice I can give to incoming PNMs is to not get caught up in the tier system! Also DO NOT GO TO FRATS! Frats are swarming with girls in sororities and if you're there, we most likely will remember you during rush and it probably won't be in a good way.

Honestly the sororities have all the power where recruitment is concerned. The only round where the PMN has the upper hand is pref. Your ranking at pref means just as much as the chapter's ranking of you. The biggest mistake girls make is to rank all the so-called upper tier chapters high after the 22 party. The girls who are totally dropped are the ones who ranked for reputation. Keep some of the "top" chapters lower in your list. Realistically, if you don't know a soul in Tri Delts and you're from Indiana, you have about a snowball's chance of getting one of their bids. Keep a more realistic chapter (KD, AxiD, DG, AOII, Theta, etc) in your top group each round. Rank smarter. Honestly, most girls at IU could be really happy in 4 or 5 chapters out of 22 and fairly happy in at least half of them.

The big change next year is that every house has to take 50 girls. I hate to crush your dreams but that's barely gonna do anything. 22x50 is 1100, which is about the same as it's been. There are only like 3 or 4 chapters that actually take small pledge classes anymore, everyone else will basically stay the same.
