what makes a house top tier?
by: yesI am curious? If the top tier houses are pairing with the same frats as the upper middle tier wouldn't that put them all at the same level? Also, if a house is on probation for lewd behavior and have girls banned from top tier frats wouldn't that bring them down a bit. Just saying.

To be top tier, a house needs to have at least two of these three things.
1. Lots of money
2. Lots of brothers (150+)
3. A nice house.
People are probably going to try to rip this apart, but if you look at all of fraternities at IU you'll see that this is absolutely true. Can't think of a single house that proves this wrong.

Above comment is true but I think op was asking about sororities. The reality is that the tier system is completely based on looks. So yeah aphi is on probo for lewd behavior but guys could care less cause they're still hot and fun. And the difference between top and upper middle is that top tier is hotter, upper middle is the best of the rest (but still beautiful girls). Usually the top houses get first picks with pairs, then upper middle and so on until it trickles down, which is why top houses determine little5/hc pairs waaaay far in advance.

Not sure I believe that the top tier girls are hotter. I have seen some of the girls in the so called top-tiered houses and they are not any better than your middle tiered houses. There are a variety in all houses, middle and so called upper. As for Alpha phi, I have seen the pledge class pictures and they are not a hot looking class.
