unhoused sororities
by: ?which of the unhoused sororities is next on the list to get a house? and how long does this typically take?

For everyone who is pushing Sigma Kappa, just know that their colonization is going to be hard core. They are going to beVERY picky about who they take and if you have a failed rush behind you (or if you dropped out because you didn't like what you had left) you'll get double the scrutiny. This isn't like most colonizations where alumnae fly in the night before and are clueless about the campus, there are going to be tons of IU alums involved.
#6by: please remember
that building a house takes a LONG time, far longer than most people think. IF you are a current IU student you will not be here long enough to actually live in the SK house, if all of these stories are even true (remember we are having a discussion with people who are not even current IU SK members).
#7by: @ not that long
There is a LOT that goes into building a house before you see the construction. Yes, SAE and PhiPsi took a year from when you started seeing the construction. BEFORE construction can happen, there has to be plans/architects, permits from the city/county, construction bids to go out and be selected, etc. There is literally months/years of work before you even see construction begin.
So, why is this important? I just don't want anyone tonight to not accept a bid from an unhoused sorority and think, "Well, I will just try for SK next year because they will have a house." It will not be completed before you graduate. So don't use the house as a deciding factor.

So DPhiE, ASA, and TPA may not have had the most impressive informal rushes/ colonizations on campus, but they have to start somewhere. The ladies they take are just as driven as others and often as well rounded if not more so. And I'm guessing there was a reason SK got kicked out in 95? What happened there?

All three chapters -TPA, ASA & DPE - are working and saving towards getting houses EVENTUALLY. None of them colonized with the intention of being permanently unhoused.
That being said, if you're in school now and join one of these groups, it's doubtful you will get to live in a traditional sorority house.
