None of the ones currently here are getting a house. The only unhoused sorority that plans on getting a house is Sigma Kappa which hasn't colonized yet.

Sorry if DPhiE told you they were getting a house during recruitment. They flat out lied to a lot of PNM's.

All three chapters -TPA, ASA & DPE - are working and saving towards getting houses EVENTUALLY. None of them colonized with the intention of being permanently unhoused.

That being said, if you're in school now and join one of these groups, it's doubtful you will get to live in a traditional sorority house.

Houses are expensive, but I know my unhoused chapter is looking to buy land within the next two years. Either you like the chapter or you don't. Your decision should revolve around whether you like the women.

No they aren't. You need to stop making ish up like this.

How the hell would you know if they're getting a house or not? Unless you have a Batphone directly to their National HQ and their alumnae advisory board and their council, you don't know anything.

Sigma Kappa, they are the only ones with the alumna support and money to built a house.

We're they top tier even when they were here? Phi Kapps house is their old house if that says anything

I don't think they will be top tier just because they have a house. Their place in the tierdom will be determined based on the women in the sorority.

You have to be established on campus at least 5 years before being eligible for a house. ASA and TPA are eligible next year

For everyone who is pushing Sigma Kappa, just know that their colonization is going to be hard core. They are going to beVERY picky about who they take and if you have a failed rush behind you (or if you dropped out because you didn't like what you had left) you'll get double the scrutiny. This isn't like most colonizations where alumnae fly in the night before and are clueless about the campus, there are going to be tons of IU alums involved.

^^ THIS.

SK's colonization is not going to be how DPhiE's was. You're just as likely to get a bid to SK as you are to any of the housed chapters. So if you got cut from all the houses you liked this year, chances are Sigma Kappa won't like you either.

Get your grades up now and start getting involved. They'll want girls who have a very involved and positive presence on campus. This is not going to be the type of colonization where they just give out bids to everyone.

Don't listen to this. People who are not in SK have NO idea how the colonization will work or how picky they will be. They don't have any experience with colonization. They don't have any experience with SK. They are just making stuff up.

I half-way think that they are intimidated and are trying their best to make SK's colonization fail by telling everyone to avoid even trying to get a bid.

If you want to try for SK, try for SK. You can't get a bid, if you don't try.

No we're just telling people to stop pushing Sigma Kappa as if it's the savior for all the girls that didn't get bids. It's not. If this many girls go out for SK then yes it will be competitive, so don't think you can walk in and get a bid like DPhiE. they are not the same, you'd actually find a few SK legacies at this school as opposed to the other colongies.

Yes, SK is a substantial national sorority and completely unlike the current three unhoused sororities which are small niche groups. That's why they can hit the ground running with a new house in the mix. They aren't going to accept every formal recruitment reject like the other three did. Keep your grades up. Get involved. Don't do stupid things. Be a woman of substance, one that a sorority that's in a position to be particular will want as a member.

that building a house takes a LONG time, far longer than most people think. IF you are a current IU student you will not be here long enough to actually live in the SK house, if all of these stories are even true (remember we are having a discussion with people who are not even current IU SK members).

It is true. There are plans on websites

SK also committed to it during their presentation. Even if you don't get a chance to live in the house because you graduate, it makes a wonderful place to come home to visit. It also shows SK's commitment to the success of their IU colony and their national financial strength,

It doesn't take that long to build a house. The SAE and Phi Psi houses went up in about a year's time. So if SK colonizes in Jan. 2016, they could be in the house as soon as Jan. 2017 and most likely Fall 2017.

There is a LOT that goes into building a house before you see the construction. Yes, SAE and PhiPsi took a year from when you started seeing the construction. BEFORE construction can happen, there has to be plans/architects, permits from the city/county, construction bids to go out and be selected, etc. There is literally months/years of work before you even see construction begin.

So, why is this important? I just don't want anyone tonight to not accept a bid from an unhoused sorority and think, "Well, I will just try for SK next year because they will have a house." It will not be completed before you graduate. So don't use the house as a deciding factor.

So DPhiE, ASA, and TPA may not have had the most impressive informal rushes/ colonizations on campus, but they have to start somewhere. The ladies they take are just as driven as others and often as well rounded if not more so. And I'm guessing there was a reason SK got kicked out in 95? What happened there?

By: Informing you
by: Anon

They closed for bad numbers around the same time Tri Sig and AOPi closed( aopi recolonized early 2000s clearly). They had just had a new house built too which they sold to Pi Kapps in '95.( their current house)
