Chapters are required to make the largest releases after open house. GPA figures heavily into releases this round. Next highest number is after philanthropy. After sisterhood is the last time for releases. There are no cuts after pref, just bid matching. If you are invited to a sorority's pref you are on their bid list somewhere.

This system of heaviest releases up front is best for pnm's. You need to know as soon as possible if you don't have a chance with a certain sorority so you can focus on the other sororities where you are wanted and actually have a chance.

Each chapter is given a specific number they are allowed to invite back each round. These numbers are calculated by panhellenic and are based on the past years of recruitment data. The more highly desired a chapter is, the more pnm's they must release throughout the entire process.

Hardly any pnm's are released from all houses; most pnm's who don't get a bid drop out of recruitment on their own. It is a real shame; there are always far too many pnm's who think they are too good to accept a bid from certain houses so they drop, but all together those pnm's would make some stellar new member classes at any house made of gorgeous fun sweet girls that would be NOTICED. What a fantastic sisterhood that would be if pnm's would just give that perspective a chance.

the gpa requirement is only like 3.0 for most houses. There’s no way that many girls have less than a 3.0 for them to cut most ppl based off gpa!! I thought you just needed above a 3.0. I have a 3.45 is that fine?

It's not about making a sorority's minimum grade requirement. That's not nearly enough to get you past first round with some chapters. If your GPA is in the bottom compared to all the other pnm's this year, it doesn't matter if you meet a sorority's minimum GPA, your chances are less for the chapters that care about grades and need to make large releases. The average sorority GPA is 3.4.

It is all about the number of pnm's that a chapter is allowed to invite back. They can't go over this number by even a single pnm so they must make cuts. GPA is not the only reason a chapter will release you but it's an easy way for them to make releases if they are a 'grades house'. If they care less about GPA and more about your hotness then there's that.

But what is that number that they're allowed to invite back?? is it near half? Can I get an estimate even. I'm really scared I won't get any of the houses I liked back.

WE DON'T KNOW THE NUMBERS. Only the chapter rush chairmen and the panhellenic rush office know the number of cuts. Yes, some chapters have HUGE cuts, like hundreds for first round. It is hard to get the most desired chapters back. There is NOTHING you can do about it. Just STOP.
