What did I do wrong?
by: sadpnmSo I got cut from basically every single house. I have a 3.9 gpa, I’m very involved in my community and all my conversations with the houses went great - i definitely could see myself in certain houses. When I got my list back and saw that almost everyone except for a slim few dropped me, what went wrong? I know it’s not just about the gpa or involvement but I also had such great conversations that felt like talking to a friend. I’m just confused on where it went wrong

You didn't do anything wrong! You do YOU! There are a lot of girls rushing and not as many spots in houses. It is very easy to get dropped. Sometimes not intentional, but due to the numbers. Do not take it personal! I've seen it many times. If you are remotely interested in any of the sororities on your list, and you want to be in a sorority, stay with the process. Try to remember, keep that GPA up...It is impressive. That will go a long way, the social scene in college is only for 4 years! Your education....a life time! Also, if you choose to not continue with Rush, there are a lot of great activities and clubs to join too! Keep you options open, it will all be clear one day!
Also, there is also sometimes informal rush in the fall too! Ask your Rho Gam for some support and use her as a resource. Good luck!

Yes…rush is no piece of cake: it ia exhausting, often unforgiving and stressful. And I WAS where you are two years ago.
But please stick with it, for awhile anyway.
CONTINUE with the houses you have left; they all saw the positive aspects IN you. Don’t focus on what you HAD—focus on the ones you still HAVE!!
Go thru another round or so—you might just fall in love with a house you’d never considered!

Nothing went wrong during your recruitment. Your IU your recruitment placements are simply strongly skewed by the normal numbers.
To strengthen NPC Sororities as a whole, and give each PNM a fair shot of belonging in membership, NPC groups ON A NATIONWIDE BASIS voted unanimously many years ago to require "popular" chapters invite smaller numbers of PNMs to early formal invitational recruitment rounds.
IU now follows this course during recruitment.
At this point in your described Recruitmrnt Life, only you can decide whether to settle for what you have or to go for what you deem is better for your future ambitions and goals.
