Does being a legacy actually help?

Zero sororitites at IU will care if you're a legacy but it won't hurt you at other chapters

It's a conversation starter but don't rely on it to get you a bid. We don't have to give special consideration to legacies anymore.

Nope won’t help you whatsoever. Legacy preferences keep girls who would authentically fit in from having a spot, therefore houses dont consider them inportant anymore.

Don’t worry about getting dropped from other houses, that won’t happen just bc you’re a legacy. Many legacies choose to go a different house than the ones their mom/grandma were in. If you want to leverage it though I would maybe mention during recruitment how you grew up listening to your family member talk about x sorority and how impactful it was in their life, that you grew up hearing about the values and relate to them and hope to bring that to your life 😉

since the abolish greek life stuff legacy policies have been diminished in every panhell org. you used to be auto invited to round 2, be placed at top of the bid list, and be automatically brought up for discussion if you were on the list to be cut during voting. now these considerations are only given to you if your sister is an active or recent grad
