Wish I went to college in the 90s
by: 90sTbh I’d do anything to go back to the 90s for a day and see what it was like to pledge a frat when there were no phones, no internet, and everything was really secret. Prob the greatest time.

My dad was a phi delt in the past around this time, had to do the elephant walk. Fortunately they just held hands through each others legs and walked in the circle. His stories of the fun parts sound way better than anything now tho. Seniors stayed involved with fraternities, people really only drank beer so people didnt fall victim to black outs nearly as much, people went out to have a good time instead of finding someone to sleep with, and pledgeship, while harder, was also way more about establishing bonds with brothers. Being dropped or dropping wasnt a bad thing back then

Usually around 10 seniors would live in fraternities and a majority of the senior class would still be involved. Now no seniors live in and are barely involved with the house.
Having seniors live in is a good thing since they’re a lot more mature, level-headed, prioritized longevity of the house(not getting kicked off), and tended to not drink as often. So when something bad happened during parties or in general, there was always a group of actual sober adults to take care of the situation or give good advice to the newer exec.
I think the lack of seniors living in has contributed a lot to fraternities getting kicked off in recent years.
