what happened to Pinning?

so many other schools do "pinning" which is when a guy gives his gf or significant other his pledge pin and it's like a HUGE deal. when did IU stop doing it? Also what happened to chapter sweethearts/little sister

I had friends get pinned by their bfs in "bottom" frats. Top tiers probably didn't wanna commit to a girl that long
