sorority rush

by: Advice?

Hey Guys, just looking for a little advice. I am a freshman, only know a few girls in sororities and I hear it's super competitive. Friends want me to live with them in off campus housing and we are looking at places. I'm torn. If I rush and get in I don't want to leaves friends hanging. If I rush and don't get in I will miss out on living with my friends. I understand the unhoused chapters are great but I would really like the experience of living in a house. Since I don't know many girls are my chances slim anyway? Any advice would be appreciated.

I personally knew no one going through the rush process and I had a really good experience! If you are at all interested definitely give it a shot. I also keep in touch with my friends that aren't in sororities/ in different houses on a regular basis. It's not as hard as you think! just my opinion.

just rush. you don't have to take a house.

go through recruitment and see if you like it. BUT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

you WILL miss out if you drop before 3 party is officially done/bid night.

see how it works out.

girl i rushed i didnt know anyone and i love my chapter. also while i was rushing i had tons of pressure from my non-greek friends to not live in, not get a little, etc. i regret listening to them. i would have had way more fun if i fully immersed myself in the chapter (like i never lived in)(also living in is fairly easy to get out of for like 99% of the houses lol.) but my advice is just to rush. u can always drop- but dont do it before going through the whole thing. u might love it!

rush and give it a shot if you are considering it even a little bit. a lot of girls sign up and it’s competitive, you will feel intimidated when other girls around you drop, or when other girls share their lists for rounds and you compare yours to theirs. but whatever you do, DO NOT drop before pref, no matter how discouraged you feel. pref your two houses, and go from there. if you pref two houses and rank two on your MRABA, you are GUARANTEED a bid to your first or second choice. avoid suicide bidding, give it a shot. you will end up where you are meant to be
