feeling sorry for the guys
by: SorryAt least during sorority recruitment if we didn’t get the houses we wanted, we got a list of houses that wanted us. Feeling sorry for the guys right now, your process seems difficult. You have to know where ya are gonna fit in.

It’s just way more competitive numbers wise than you’d think. More than twice as many guys as spots, and it’s all about who you know, which puts out of state guys at an immense disadvantage.
It’s really hard getting to know guys in houses during your first semester because they’re either sophomores and there’s not much ability to get to know them (different classes, not in dorms, Etc) or freshman who are pledging the entire semester.
The rush process is also terrible. At other schools, you have several informal events that are actually fun (parties, casino nights, etc) that actually is normal and not contrived. Guys formal rush at IU gives you limited time (6 hours MAX) to try and bond with guys who frankly are drunk and don’t really care about the process and just want their buddies from high school, which is totally fair on their end
