best frat for academics/preppy?
by: VVI am a incoming freshman who is a DA to Kelley and I am not familiar with IU Greek system. I am looking into rushing when I get on campus. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where I should look at rushing. Personally, I am not looking for the house with the best parties. Looking for a house where the brothers actually care about grades and academics, but still are chill. Maybe even like a preppier frat (Vineyard Vines stereotype, etc.)? It doesn't have to be a top house or anything. Any recommendations or personal experiences will help! Thanks in advance!
#1by: Here's the short list
Here are the houses that you should rush:
Beta Sig - 3.456: this house is new and has avoided trouble. They took top GPA from Sig ep and have been running with it since. They don’t haze and have an easy pledgeship. They went from pairing with ASA to AGD and ADPi within the last year which is impressive.
Sig Ep - 3.432: awesome well balanced house. Guys in here are so sweet. They have avoided trouble and maintained a high GPA for years. They have a structured pledgeship. They have great pairs!
Alpha Sig - 3.309: not new to campus, but will be housed in the fall. Honestly awesome that they are able to recruit such quality guys who value academics while being unhoused. Super excited to see what these guys bring when housed.
Beta - 3.278: the biggest house out of the 4 mentioned which is impressive that they are able to maintain that GPA. They are deferred suspension which doesn’t look great, but it’s obvious they have some smart guys in there to turn it around!
Regardless of whether you want to be top tier or rush a bottom tier house, take the GPAs into consideration. Houses with lower GPA obviously aren’t supporting an environment to grow academically and that’s the reason you’re paying for college.
