odds of getting our first choice?

It's not really about odds...... it's about how high you were ranked on the list of that chapter.
Like someone mentioned before, each chapter invites a certain # of women to their chapter for pref round. Then they (some, not all) divide it onto an A list and B list, where if 25 women on A list accept out of 50, then they go to B list. If 20 women accept on B list, and the quota is 50, they'll add 5 more additions to their list via quota additions.
If I remember correctly, the number of women that preffed two houses, there were only like.... 15-20 that didn't get on either immediate list. They became quota additions after that for a house, or that house went to COB and gave out bids that night to women that dropped out of recruitment.This was done all before the tennis center bid opening and women still showed up at the tennis center that were COB's, but no one knew except their rho gam and them because they still opened their bids right then and there.

Good post one clarification, snap bids are given out before bids are open at the tennis center they are not COB.. Chapters can only snap bid up to the formal recruitment quota and not over that amount. (And in reality snap bids were offered last night)
COB is informal recruitment and may start later this week at a chapter or two but also can happen at any time in next few weeks (it may be by private invite only with only 1-2 bids available at some chapters )
Quota additions happen when women go to all the prefs off they were invited to and write them both down on their binding agreement but don’t match to either sororitiy’s list before those two sororities make quota. Panhellenic then adds them to one or the other of the sororities they went to pref at as a reward for sticking with the process and agreeing to take either house.
(If you were only invited to one pref and list that house on binding agreement you will also be a quota addition even if dead last on their list) This is IUs first year making all chapters take QAs . And that’s a good thing.
