disappointed

by: sad

I am so disappointed about the recruitment process at IU. There is such a low placement rate, and it’s sad to see all my friends not happy. I don’t understand why the pledge classes aren’t larger? I personally think they should make sophomore live in required but junior live in based on a point system. It’s unfair to all of the girls that signed up for rush and paid tons of money on fees, outfits, accessories, etc. Many ended up dropping in the end. This “numbers game” is complete bs. There needs to be a change in IU recruitment! It makes me think they only do this for the $80 or whatever you pay, only to get dropped in the end. So very sad.

People would have better placement rates if they didn't rely solely on what is said on this website and go through recruitment with an open mind. Most of the girls that go into a top house actually figure out that they don't fit in there and drop. I don't feel sorry for the girls who say placement rates are bad. If they went through recruitment with an open mind that would never happen.

i have friends at alabama and from what i've heard rush there is very intense like it is here but almost every girl ends up with a bid, usually from the house they wanted since their pledge classes are huge there. also at bama the "tiers" as people call them aren't so harsh and almost all of the sororities are considered "good", while there are still "top houses" most of them all are good and fun girls and its not so judgy when it comes to choosing a house you like, wish it was more like that here. sadly its not

Tiers are very harsh at Bama. Ever heard of Old Row? Or The Machine? Google them.

Even if houses took a few more girls each, it does not mean everyone would get exactly the ONE house they want. That is true at ALL campuses. Girls are disappointed at every campus because they don’t get into the ONE house that they think is the only house where they could be happy.

Not to be icky, but why do people say this process is unfair? Don’t you spend money on interview outfits only to possibly not get the job? Or athletic shoes and possibly not make the team? Ladies I know it hurts, but when you drop out because you can’t possibly see yourself in the houses that want you, that is not unfair.
