the real story

by: Inside Source

I believe I've discovered the real story about this suspension. It is apparent presidents were forced into this decision. No one wanted to do this, but felt they were forced to. The university gave the important members on IFC an ultimatum and they were in a lose-lose situation. The situation lead to this vote that the presidents didn't even know about til the day of. The university has been avoiding to work with IFC and presidents to solve issues this whole year. At the same time, the school has been forcing unnecessary non-agreed upon rules these past two years on Greek life. As many of us know, a lot of these rules were unfair and weren't followed by pretty much anyone. Someone really really close to the situation has information that the school has been colluding with IUPD to shut down fraternity parties all year. This would explain all the unnecessary party shutdowns this past semester. All these "noise complaints" have seem made up and IUPD never discloses who actually calls. The school knows exactly who is partying with who each night by how fraternities and sororities have register parties. They target certain parties and end them every night. The school doesn't want Greek life around anymore. We can either take this suspension or fight it and give us a chance.

IU is so dumb if they get rid of Greek life they will lose so many students that come here because they want a bigger school along with Greek life experience

If the Admin closes down greek life the alums that support athletics and the university (mostly greek alum) quit donating...so the administration has to make it look like it was the IFC who made the decision to keep the money flowing.

we are being played

Isn't the "real reason" basically that fraternities wouldn't follow basic rules (laws actually) like don't drink underage and don't haze people? Not all fraternities and not all guys, of course, but enough that it was publicly noticed.

Thanks SLL employee! If only the boys would straighten up and fly right, all would be right with the world.....this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anyone's behavior....it is a crackdown because 1. nationwide, Deans of Student's offices are cracking down on fraternities and this is the trend. SLL employees that want to keep moving in their careers need to keep up with the trends 2. The Provost, the Dean of Student and SLL all hate the fraternities. They do not want the chapters to succeed, they don't even want them to survive......it doesn't matter what anyone does, if no one gets in trouble during this probationary period, the rules with be stricter next year. The goal isn't to fix the fraternity system, the goal is to kill it, either directly or through over regulation. That's what the housed greek organization agreement was all about, thats what the vision for the idea greek community is all about and thats what this suspension is all about.

Its called being set up to fail.

IU really has been trying to get rid of greek life, kicking off so many organizations and refusing to allow new houses to be built has all been part of them trying to cut down on greek life at this university.

Another thing that would help is put down the damn cell phones. Not every moment of your life needs to be on snapchat or instagram. Stop allowing guests to take unlimited photos and videos. If it everything wasn't on social media nonstop, more things wouldn't be public knowledge.

If you want to know where you're headed, check out the new Penn State requirements. I'll bet iu and others will duct and paste. Good luck.
