sigma kappa?

by: LenneK

Very confused. Will SK be housed after there two years are up in Phi Psi? IU is not allowing greek life to build... Why would they tell their new members they are going to build... what's going on?

Tbh I think they lied to new members. After two years they will be an unhoused sorority. IU isn't allowing Greek life to build because multiple fraternity's AND a sorority have been kicked off this year. Also. IU bought Tri-delt's house as well and they'lll probably turn it into an office or a honors dorm.

I think all of the members were told that, not just the new ones but they've been talking to IU for like 4 years so I think they might be working something out. I don't think they would have come here if they weren't allowed to be hosed

I know that last sentence in #2 was a typo but lol.

Okay so yes it's true iu is not allowing new houses to be built, however I do believe Sigma kappa nationals made a deal with iu prior to them coming back on campus. For one, there is a 5 year wait to get a house at IU and Sigma kappa got one in like a few months. Also, I don't believe nationals would waste time bringing them back on campus and buying the girls a house, only to leave them unhoused in 2 years. From what I've heard, nationals came and spoke to the girls. They were not very informative, but they basically guaranteed they had something in the works and that SIgma kappa at IU would not be unhoused again. If your really concerned, try calling national headquarters in Carmel, they could probably provide more technical information

Not sure how, but nationals made a deal with IU agreeing that if they comeback back on campus (SIgma kappa was here 3 times already ) they would be housed permanently within 2-3 years. I really have no clue how they got this deal or why but I'm absolutely positive that the girls will be housed. My mom is an alumni of this chapter from back in like the 80's or something, so she always gets newsletters and is pretty involved with nationals.

Also, lets re evaluate SK's standing at IU. They have a very low GPA and have a reputation for partying out of control, and dropping their pairs with fraternities. Also, it is known that SK shows up at fraternity houses and lie about which sorority they are in. Their nationals aren't oblivious to this.

Why would SK's nationals invest millions in a house when SK's leadership is mediocre at best. They're a new sorority with girls who were not brought up in the Greek system. It will take 4 years at least for real leadership to develop.

What SK should've done initially was focus on academics and building a sisterhood instead of partying and causing problems for fraternities. That way nationals would be more comfortable building a house.

Yes let's re-evaluate SK standing. They don't have a reputation for partying out of control, they do however have a reputation for being fun which is hardly a negative thing..like everyone partys. if they were reckless they'd be on Probo. They've never been on any disciplinary action I just looked it up. Also Who doesn't cancel on frats? Also who tf cares, if they canceled they probably didn't want to pair with them...big deal lol it happens all the time. Also I've NEVER heard of any sorority saying that they are in another house...ever. That's like a huge deal and I'm sure no girl is stupid enough to do that, these type of allegations are meaningless rumors. Also how would you know if their nationals are aware..that kind of stuff Is private so I definitely think your making that up. A lot of girls in Sigma kappa go out i see them plenty of places and they never seemed to struggle to get in/know people so idk that sounds like a rumor to me. If you actually have a record of this happening please provide it though I'd love to see it. Anyways that's my two cents

Ok. I believe the AGD girl saying that SK was promised a plot of land. I don't believe IU is going to pay for the house.

So that leaves SK's nationals, why haven't they started construction yet? Maybe their nationals is nervous about building a house for a sorority that clearly isn't showIng signs of maturity.

They have no bad records, they've raised thousands of dollars during several philanthropy events, they pair and socialize with a large variety of other Greek organizations several times a week, they have followed all the rules at IU, they had an extremely successful recruitment process and have had no obvious risk management situations... compared to some other "new sororities" they've done pretty well for themselves actually. I'm in no way saying they don't have room to grow, but I think your judging them with very harsh standards. I don't think they've done bad at all tbh

IU doesn't need to pay, nationals has their own housing fund. They're suppose to build on 3-5 years and it's only been 2

In response to someone saying a plot vs building on a lot are two different things: moron. It wasn't explained to my exec roommate in the way "deals" for already built homes at IU are. Obviously their nationals is paying for all of that. Do you think IU paid for Fiji's new mansion? Lol if you're gonna spew paragraphs at least use logic

Look at the websites of other campuses whose panhellenics are building new homes. Read how very very long the process takes, even at giant greek-centered universities like Arkansas and Alabama. IU will, for the foreseeable future, continue to have fraternal housing issues. SK has considerable plans in place and goals in mind for its IU chapter. We here don't have to know or understand everything their org wants to do. Easy access to internet information sometimes pushes people to want to know everything about other things right now no delay. Relax. Let SK and our other unhoused groups grow at their proper pace.

Damn y'all are really jealous lol. Worry about your own lives why do you care what sigma kappa does? Who goes on an anonymous website and posts paragraphs of crap about other houses? That is soooo sad I can't imagine ever taking the time to do that TBH. Nobody actually takes this site seriously. posts that say "sk is so bad they cancel pairs" "sk party's to much" doesn't do anything for them lol. They're still gonna get pairs, they're still going to get attention, they're still gonna have fun. stop trying to put another house down to Make your own house look better. That goes for everyone not just sk. It's desperate honestly .

For someone telling others they shouldn't care, you sure spewed a mouthful...settle down SK
