Reading through your logic, it’s hard to disagree. When the Greek Life candidates are actively attempting to distance themselves from their Greek organizations in order to be elected, it’s difficult to believe they are going to have the best interest of all other Greek organizations at heart if they are given that power. And given the daunting circumstances Greek Life is in right now, that worries a lot of Greek Life members. The worry is that all Greek organizations and their members are going to be subjected to a lack of support from their Student Body leaders, which is a terrible possibility given the state we are in. The University takes major issue with Greek Life, maybe a candidate working alongside Greek RSO’s, who is not a Greek Life member themselves but vouches for and supports the organizations, may be exactly what is needed to begin a positive working relationship between Administration, Student Body Leadership and the Greek Community.
