rerushing next year...
by: HelpHelp please. I'm in a sorority and I like some parts of my specific one. How likely is it that I can drop before initiation and still get into a good house next year if I rushed again? Do sororities not like if you do this or should I just stay in my current house? What is the process like? Could I get into a top house? ONLY Real help

The odds aren’t in your favor. Nothing is impossible, but you need to weigh your feelings and be honest with yourself. There are some girls who don’t click with their house until after recruitment, maybe once they get their fam or even after initiation. But if you realize it isn’t the right fit (and I DONT mean “it’s a bottom tier and i’m top tier material”) then drop and rush again. Just think about 1. What you can improve about yourself for next year and 2. If you’re okay with not being Greek at all.

If you rerush, you may end up with no chapter.
My advice if you like at least some things about your chapter -- be the change that you want to see. Get involved on campus. Be a great representative of your chapter. Know that in future years, you will (in most chapters) get to help choose your new members. The mix of women will change every year.

You odds will be low. It doesn't look good when you drop from a house then re-rush...sends a message of "can you really commit," "will you drop us too?" kind of thing.
You're competing against freshman and my house would question your ability to commit unless you had tons of friends here to pull for you. Top houses have their pick of girls, so if that's what you want, the odds will be very low.
Stay where you are and make it great.

you're misinformed, "sorry." OP, i rerushed my sophomore year and it was a much better experience. during freshmen year rush i was super nervous, didn't know what to say, didn't know what to wear, i was honestly weird. i didn't get called back to any of the houses i liked and ended up in a house where i felt like i was settling. i was sad seeing my friends get into top tier sororities and felt like they were living their best life while i was just blah about my house !! i dropped and made connections my freshman year, got my gpa up, polished my look up, and went through rush with a much better attitude and more confidence. i ended up getting the majority of the houses i wanted back, and now i'm in a chapter that i love with all my heart. if ur thinking about rerushing- do it!!!
