rushing sorority w braces

I'm hoping to rush but I'm nervous because my braces won't be off before then. I'm confident in them and have never been concerned until reading that this could really hurt my chances of getting a bid. Aside from braces I modeled and I've never really had any issue with my looks or my social life. Is this a deal breaker for sororities? should I wait until sophomore year to rush?

Being a sophomore will hurt you more than braces. Just keep an open mind while you're rushing. All chapters here are great despite what you read on this website.

I agree. Much easier to get a bid as a sophomore than it would to get one with braces. Braces will hurt your chances with a lot of houses. It's shallow, but unfortunately it's the truth.

I see it as an asset. It'll let you know if the chapter that gives you a bid genuinely likes you for you since the shallow ones will drop you. And do you really wanna be friends with people who will reject someone simply because they have braces?

There once was a Miss America contestant who had just gotten her braces off, she couldn't stop smiling all week during the competition and she ended up winning.

I'm sure you and your tin grin will make tracks to the right sorority home this year.
