highschool connections?

The big feeders are Memorial, Highland Park, Alamo Heights, Austin, etc....however, not everyone from those gets a bid either and lots of girls from smaller towns or even out of state get bids. They tend to get bids not because of where they went to school though but because they know people to pull for them. A lot-maybe most- of the girls in those chapters went to the big camps-Longhorn, Waldemar, or Mystic and know girls well from those who pull for them. Rush is just so brutal because you are pretty much put into your tier. If you have connections and know girls in PKT you might not get dropped from those, but CHi O and Tri Delta drop you after the first day assuming you are going PKT. PKT (and Chi O) have to drop 800+ after the first day of chatting for 15 minutes so it is almost impossible to make that cut as a freshman without knowing anyone before. You just cant take it personally- no one likes the process on either side and it isn't a reflection on anyone. Just remember it is silly to assume you have to be in big six....a lot of great girls come in without connections and most of them end up in the other chapters with girls they love. Just because you "know people" that certainly doesn't make you a better or more fun sister. Just be open minded and realistic. Also realize that if you know girls in ANY chapter, remember that is probably your best shot and don't think you are "better" than anyone. Girls liking you and wanting you helps in any chapter.

^^^^ This is the best and most accurate advice I have seen on this site. Neither side likes the process yet you really don't understand it until you are on the other side.
