You have to know people in the chapter well enough for them to want you and to pull for you. The absolute most important thing. There are plenty of girls who fit that criteria- Almost every in-state girl in those four chapters knew people who wanted them and had good RIFs. They can’t get to know you and add you to any lists after talking to you for 20 minutes first round. RIFS from UT alums that know you and your family well can matter too. It is not personal....everyone wants their friends t9 get in so that is who they pull for.

Honestly, If you are in state and can’t manage those two things, you really don’t have much of a shot in PKT or Chi O for sure. Zeta and Tri Delt get a few outside that group but for Zeta they are girls that clearly fit and Tri Delt needs to figure out what they are doing.

And don’t go in only wanting those six. Really connections are crucial. Everyone ends up loving their chapters once they are in and past rush week.

Sophomore rush is much easier period. You know girls in chapters or even if you don’t the competition just isn’t as tough.

Chi o is not a PKT fall back. That is a myth. They rush different girls. Well, Kappa has some overlap because they are more willing to look at different girls.

PBP has a Fort Bend sophomore......certainly not the norm but I agree they take who they like. All of PKT takes girls they know and like though. There are not zip code cuts....just connections...another myth,

If you are going in with an attitude of only wanting the Big 6, I feel bad for you. You are looking for a SISTERHOOD... not a "name". You are already losing at the game by starting this discussion.

Top 7 or bust!!

No one is going to be impressed with you after a 20 minute conversation. The invite list for thenext round is already done. They've chosen those they already know and those who have exceptional references/recommendations.

You need to get that whole attitude out of your head. You're lucky to get a bid from any of our sororities.

Hire a rush coach. I'll say it again. HIRE A RUSH COACH. It's competitive here.

Ya some are expensive, but again, you get what you pay for. Big 6 girls can afford to drop the $$$.

And don't hire someone's mom pretending to know what's up. Go with a recent UT grad - someone that was a rush officer vs. your average member that knew the basics and will just parrot what this site says.

These days there are all these moms (read: bored housewives) trying to play rush coach out there, especially at Episcopal. Which is especially ironic when - in reality - most of their daughter's only got in because they hired a real rush coach to begin with.

It's hard enough to get ANY house and it's even harder to get a mid-tier (Chi O, Zeta, DG, Tri Delt) or top house (like PKT).

HIRE A RUSH COACH.
