Grades matter more to some than to others. Almost all incoming freshman have good grades though. All about connections and how good you are socially. Connections, looks and social skills are all more important than grades in my opinion

Truth is that if you are accepted to UT then you automatically have good grades, so it isn't an issue. Not the case for many schools however.
