Downsizing next round

Philanthropy to Sisterhood - if a PNM starts with fewer than 7 houses, do the still rank after Phil round or do they don select their least favorite again?

Pnm's submit ranks at every round as long as they are in the recruitment process.

good. it doesn't seem right that only PNMs with more than 7 can rank, but those with fewer don't get a say.

You have to turn in your ranks to stay in the process, that's all.

Your ranks as a pnm DO NOT EVER GET YOU A SAY when you have fewer options than the max for a round.

The sororities are doing the choosing and it's their ranks of the pnm's that determine who they invite back and who they release. All pnm's are ranked by a chapter and those that are high enough to make their assigned cutoff number (given to them by panhellenic) will be invited back. Pnm's that are not ranked high enough are released. The sororities do not use pnm's ranks of them ever, they don't even see them.

A pnm only has a say if she is ranked above the cutoff line for more chapters than the max number allowed for a round. In that case her lower ranked houses will drop off her schedule and she will go back to the full number of chapters. Otherwise, chapters have released her, so she has no say, and will go back to the chapters she has left for that round regardless of how she ranked them. Pnm's DO NOT DROP CHAPTERS, they only rank them.

Pnm's ranks only come into equal consideration with the chapter ranks during bid matching. That's when you have a say, but there are no guarantees that your say will be exactly what you want.

The process is so messed up.

Well "messed up" for you is all that is. Sorry you're displeased but the sororities choose their own memberships, it's not a sign up sheet. The pnm's can join if they are asked, or they can decline. It is mutual selection. You're not in high school now and things aren't geared to run smoothly for you personally.

PNMs should be allowed to drop houses even if the are below max. Why waste the time of a sorority that you would decline?

Because pnm’s change their minds during successive rounds and often pref changes everything for them. They look back and are grateful they were led to the home they didn’t think they wanted. You’re always free to drop at any time if you want to, but if you think you are too good to show up to a party and be cordial for 20 minutes to a bunch of people who are actually interested in you and giving you a chance, then you aren’t wanted in a sorority period. People talk and entitled bishes will embarrass a chapter’s rep. A clue as to why you are getting dropped by so many chapters. If you were wanted more you would have more choices.
