Dear pnms post open house lists

by: Pnmappreciator

This yr is more competitive and I’ve heard a lot of girls unhappy already after open house with their options or w less houses than the maximum. It’s more competitive this year but also this happens annually… gorgeous amazing girls don’t get into “top houses” and decide to either accept a great house they didn’t initially consider or to drop rush all together. Being in a “lower” house doesn’t mean much other than you’re one of those girls who maybe wasn’t seen in full potential/slipped thru the cracks. We all know an amazing girl who is in a “lower” house than expected but many of them love it. Don’t be too hard on yourself and stay open!

I know a lot of gorgeous girls who ended up either maybe 5-7 houses and that included their bottom 4. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that their than they aren’t big on social media and don’t party a ton. I hope they find their space.

More pnm's doesn't actually mean more competitive. Everything is done by percentages, not on hard numbers, and the percentages are based on the data from the past few years of recruitment. So yeah, it scales up with the number of pnm's, but there is not a set number of spots as an end goal. The more pnm's in recruitment means that more are carried from round to round, more will end up at pref, and more will get bids. And of course that means also that chapters have to release more each round, so it just seems like it's more competitive looking at only the hard numbers, but the proportionalities are the same as always. And the numbers for each round are adjusted based on the percentages depending on how many pnm's stay in the process by not dropping out. Quota is set only after pref, based on the number of pnm's signing cards. More pnm's signing cards means larger nm classes all around.

The norm is actually to not get the max per round, the norm has always been less than that. But more pnm's are experiencing this, and of course not happy about it, but there's really nothing new this year and it's not more competitive. The formal recruitment system is not designed to eliminate pnm's from the process, it's the exact opposite.

before this system, chapters were closing all the time.

in the 00s it would be like having 5 AXOs (large chapters w good retention), 4 SDT sized chapters (mid sized chapters that COBed to make up for drops), and 4 deeph sized chapters. It was brutal.

They are saying the houses can't expand enough to accomodate everyone. It is more competitive.

What "they" are saying is incorrect. That's not how NPC recruitment works, including here. When chapters are getting too big then another chapter is brought on, as is happening this year. KAT is coming back. Accomodation may be discussed as a concern but it is not driving the Release Figure Methodology by any means.

Pnm's always want to believe that their rush could be going better if it weren't for some mitigating factor making rush "more competitive this year", and members (most of whom don't know any better how the process works than the pnm's) like to have an excuse to explain away heavy releases.

The recruitment counselors are not involved in setting RFM and don’t fully understand how it works and often they believe rumors too. When you don’t know any better you just trust them. Mine told us that we couldn’t get a snap if we did SIP which I know now is wrong.
