sigma nu legacy

I would stay far away from Sigma Nu if I were you. Sigma Nu has a horrible reputation and I think most Sigma Nus are embarrassed to wear their letters because they have become the laughingstock of Greek life. Unless you can't get a bid from any house except Sigma Nu I would avoid Sigma Nu like the plague. They are probably ranked dead last among fraternities. Lambda Chi and ZBT are both top tier houses but also because of their #1 and #2 ranking also the most competitive. But legacy or not save your self the shame of having to identify with Sigma Nu at UCLA.

"Snitch" NU sucks!

Don't go on Greek rank for advice. Most of this is by a few posters self promoting/bashing their houses. Focusing on tiers too much might cause you to miss out on some solid houses you may be a great fit in. The whole lambda thing here is way out of proportion. Are they the top tier house? Short answer no, but they are a solid group of guys and the friends I have there are super chill. Is Sig Nu really that bad? No they aren't. Sure they snitched on neighbors but that's one person. Each house has good and bad guys. ZBT is still a great house as is Sig Ep their sorority relations are great. Don't listen to rumors they are plummeting they aren't. Also the whole Phi Psi ghetto thing is really false. The guys I know there aren't ghetto. Do they have more miniorities than SAE? Yeah they do but it doesn't make them ghetto. And all the bashing on lower houses like theta Xi, theta chi, and DTD is just bad. There's some super nice and genuine guys in those houses. Good luck and rush where you could see yourself really fitting in.

Calm down lambda

I am in a top tier sorority at UCLA and lots of my sisters hang out at Sigma Nu. There is nothing wrong with this house according to girls. If you like it there, you will have fun and its a good house, dont worry about it.

The "Top Tier" is SAE, ZBT, Sig Chi, and Sig Ep. Lambda is pretty good (upper mid to top), but all the crazy comments about them on this site are totally bizarre. They are not "universally recognized #1, cemented as top house...etc...It seriously is weird that someone keeps posting this stuff!

Lambda Chi Alpha has recently become top fraternity in the eyes of most 1st and 2nd year sorority members. Lambda Chi hasn't always been top and our 3rd and 4 th year members prefer SAE,SX,SIG EP. Honestly those houses recent PC have been really sketch especially compared to Lambda Chi which if you ask any 1st or 2nd year sorority member will say is #1. With our4th years leaving and Lambda Chi expecting to keep recruiting #1 PC you will see a real movement or competition by several top sororities to jettison SAE,SX,SIG EP in favor of Lambda Chi or ZBT. I know our house 1st and 2nd year prefer Lambda Chi over the current fraternity which I guess we sort of have a history with. We plan to push a lot more activities with Lambda achieve this winter and next year.

sig nu does not have a terrible rep on campus

If you are overweight, socially awkward Sigma Nu might be the perfect fit.

Congrats on getting into UCLA, you're gonna have a great time. I would take everything you see on GreekRank with a grain of salt. SigNu did have a bit of a feud with lambda in fall of '16 with regards to one of their brothers reporting a rush violation. Are the widely considered a top house? Probably not, though they had events with all the top sororities over the course of the year (Kappa, Aphi, Theta, PiPhi, etc). There parties always have a good amount of people in them, and the overall reputation on campus isn't bad. Most would probably consider them middle to upper middle tier. I'd say that as a legacy, go into rush with an open mind and give them a visit, but don't feel pressured into accepting a bid somewhere that doesn't feel right. When I rushed, I found that the GreekRank list of "top" UCLA houses was way different from reality.
