why is smu this way

I know a few girls that decided not to rush freshman and wait until sophomore year for various reasons... the sad thing is all the “friends” they made before stopped talking to them completely... I don’t understand, they are still going to rush just not this semester. I don’t understand why girls in houses completely cut others off for waiting or not joining right away???? Wow.
