YOUR CHANCES AT ANY HOUSE ARE STILL EXACTLY THE SAME. It doesn't matter if there are 1000 or 500 pnm's, there is not a set number of spots in any or all chapters and the process is based on percentages, not working toward a hard number of bids. If pnm's don't drop out then they will get a bid and NM classes will be large.

that is so not how it works and you know it. There aren’t enough houses to accommodate all these girls, and everyone knows it. Even if each house took a full PC there still is too many. Don’t lie…

Lots of people actually do know how it works and there is no such thing as not enough houses because THAT’s not how it works. BTW what is a “full pc” in your mind? Please tell us.

most other schools the size of unc have at least ~12 chapters…and that’s just acc schools. say what you want but a school with the level of popularity of unc shouldn’t just have 9 chapters

While this is true, the unfortunate reality is once girls only have the bottom houses left, most of them drop and with only 9 houses now, there’s less houses between top and bottom and therefore less opportunity to be in a non bottom house

Maybe now the sororities will vote for expansion when they get a taste of new member classes so large they are impersonal.

By: It's time
by: Truth

Nope, bc they don’t care. They’d rather take the whole system down or have a large but unknown PC than vote for more competition

Clearly they don’t gaf bc if they did then Tri sig and kappa would still be here - unc Greek life is self cannibalizing

the chapters have to vote whatever their nationals tell them to. they don’t have any say in the matter

Not true, the chapter panhellenic makes the decision to open for expansion and holds all the power. Then there has to be interest from NPC national orgs to come on or not and sends a packet to panhellenic, who then chooses a short list of orgs to come to campus and present. And ALL the sororities on campus = panhellenic.

This is Kappa Delta’s fault

How? What did they do (I’m a geed and curious)?

Because every single year the sororities vote on whether or not to add a new chapter, since it’s a Panhellenic decision and they get every chapter’s opinion. And every single year KD votes no

Voting against every year just screams KD insecurity because they clearly don't want any more competition.

Another chapter is needed with good housing for them, and then variable quota for a year or two. No national sorority would come here unless those two things were guaranteed.

With real estate prices here and the history of -2 srats in 5 years I fear this university will be hard pressed to get a new chapter, I’ve heard kappa wants to return after like 5 years so hopefully that’ll happen

I can't imagine this place as a target for any national sorority looking to add a chapter. There is too much going against it: majority in state so too insular, BAD history of chapter failure, no panhellenic commitment to changing the cannibalistic culture, and the 'enrollment cliff' is supposedly here now with projected college enrollment decreasing 13% over the next 15 years. Why would any of them even look this way, including re-establishment of Kappa? The sororities here are not panhellenic in spirit, the mindset is like a bunch of scorpions in a jar just stinging away at each other to be top of the dead heap. The frats are culpable in this too.
