You can have a social life regardless of what tier house you end up in. If you fit in a top house, you will get in no worries

LOR's don't really do anything. All it does is make you look like a try hard. As long as you're pretty and fit in with the top house you want to be in then you'll most likely end up getting a bid from there. Every sorority is pretty social I'd say but the quality of your social goes down as you move down the tiers. People will always say the experience is the same but it's really not. Go through the rush process and see where you fit in because in the end if you force yourself to a house you'll end up regretting it.

We can tell if you’re just trying to get into a house just to get good socials. Looking desperate does not help at all. Just go through recruitment and be yourself.

So no need for any recommendation letters for the sororities at UIUC, correct?

You will still have a social life if you get into a mid/bottom sorority. i'm in a bottom house an we have at a minimum 2-3 events each week (not excluding open parties on the weekends).

This does not make a difference. Even if you are a legacy, it does not make a difference. Some houses are required to keep you through further rounds if either or both of these apply to you, but if you don't meet what they want in a pledge class, they will keep those who do. And this isn't a bad thing! It is much better to be in a house where you are wanted and will fit in. Trust the system!

You should not be concerned about the rank of sororities on this website, it’s all bogus. The ranks on this website change so much that “tiers” are meaningless. When you go through recruitment focus on having good conversations with the girls in each house and go where you feel that fits best. You can have a good or bad experience in a “top” house and you could have a good or bad experience in a “bottom” house. I can’t speak for every single sorority on campus but all houses have plenty of social activities, even ones that are considered “bottom”. After you graduate, even on campus, it doesn’t matter what tier your sorority is, it just matters that you loved being in it.
