is u of i a safety school?
by: Is it?Everyone in my high school told me that U of I is a safety school, is that true?
#2by: Are you from Northshore?
#3by: For the most part, no
Most schools at UofI are highly regarded, although a few are not difficult to get into. I think the business school is pretty well ranked though.
I suppose if you compare UofI to a smaller school that is prestigious, smaller in size, and takes a smaller percentage of applicants, then I guess you can call us a safety school.
But you can generally get a top notch education here, and we have some very prominent alums, so we are among the best.
I say that from perhaps a unique perspective. I wanted to attend UofI since I was a kid, I had high grades and test scores, and I only applied to Illinois. So I dont really know whether everyone else would have taken me.

Not a safety school. LAS ACT 25% to 75% range is 27-33. Lowest is social work with 22-27. Networking wise, if you want to work in Illinois/Chicago, it's also great. Odds are employers have a friend or family member who went.
