rushing as a minority student

I am considering rushing this fall. However, I am unsure of continuing because I am a Latina and will be a junior student. I do plan to be at U of I for 3 years. I have no idea about sororities but I do want to look for a dependable friend group. Heh... I will be turning 21 this August so I would also want a dependable friend group to have during parties and such. Will I be able to get this through a sorority?

Yes! I definitely think you can find what you're looking for through rush. Even if you decide to drop during or after the process, it won't hurt at all to give it a shot. I know plenty of girls who rushed as juniors and absolutely love where they're at. And if a house would reject you because you're a minority student, they probably wouldn't be the type of people you want to be around anyway.
I say give it a shot!
