hard time rushing as a sophomore

by: Shizcakes

I was super excited to finally rush even though I didn't last year but was really dissappear when I got dropped from 12 out of 18 houses before first round, even at ones that went really well. Is this usual for a sophomore or am I just really that unlikable?

It's not you, most houses don't really like to accept sophomores because they count against quota. It's hard to explain but it's really rare for many sororities to accept more than 1-2 sophomores per pledge class

don't let that discourage you! I rushed as a junior and got into a house I love. everything happens for a reason so just see where the process takes you (:

It's easier to rush as a junior because they don't count against quota. Juniors are basically "free money" It's easier for juniors than it is for sophomores unfortunately

It literally doesn't matter that you're a sophomore, no one will really care about that

false. it matters A LOT because you are taking the place of not 1 but 2 freshman

Yes, it "matters" in that sophomores are counted differently, but it's also the case that there are far fewer sophomores rushing. So don't worry about it it evens out! Last year almost every house took several sophomores. So it probably evens out.

Now that I think about it, the only way "weighting" sophomores could make sense is if Panhel was worried they would be too often favored over freshmen otherwise.
