classiness

by: fingers

One of the ranking categories addresses "classiness."
Aside from popularity & attractiveness, which houses come to mind regarding class?

elegance & style?
self-respect and respectful to others?

Sororities?
Fraternities?

Actually, the houses with class are not the "so-called" top houses......sororitys or frats...
You can actually look at house individual ranking criteria to see for yourself.....

pikes & thetas epitomize class

NO, they really don't. They epitomize flashiness, which is hardly an indication of class.

What would epitomize class is the person who you don't realize is attractive until you take a second look, and who you don't realize is very smart or comes from a wealthy family, because they do not flaunt it.

agree with the flashiness comment........

"neuvo riche" people "or those that seek that perception" act flashy because they feel the need to somehow prove themselves by association.......drive BMWs yet carry debt.......many seek their identities through their frat/sorority

"old money" royalty don't care so much about appearances.....but are concerned with true substance......drive Toyotas yet possess "generational wealth" .........most seek to help mold the identities of their frat/sorority

At Illinois, I think there is actually quite a bit of old money in the houses not considered "top tier", because unlike other places it is considered in poor taste to show off here. Those houses also have a lot of solid kids from more modest households, because you don't have to spend a ton of $$ to fit in.

The "top houses" have lots of new money kids, and middle class kids trying to prove something.

True, the houses with real money would see right through you.

So yeah go for Pikes. To be honest, their guys will do well in life. As will
many people at UofI.
