how formal & competitive is sorority rush?

gpa matters. houses won't cut you if you're above a 2.7/2.8/3.0 whatever their requirement is, but they are more likely to pick a girl with a 4.0 than a 3.5 if everything else is the same between them. extracurriculars matter a ton. thats most likely what youll be talking about during open and first. they want involved girls who will improve the house. recommendations don't matter. look nice during rush.
